Veterinary treatment does not have one standard Norwegian price. The clinic, exact service, animal's needs and any additions determine the amount. The tables below therefore show neither averages, general price levels nor rankings. They reproduce selected entries from three clinics' own price lists.
The prices were checked on 1 August 2026. Ask the clinic for its current price or a written quote before booking.
What a price example can and cannot show
A price example shows what a named clinic published for a named service on a particular date. It can help you understand which questions to ask. It does not predict the cost of treating an individual animal.
Three details should follow every example:
- Source and check date, so you can find the current listing
- Service name and contents, so consultation, diagnostics and additions are not mixed together
- Price type, such as fixed price, from-price or interval
The tables are based on public price lists, not individual receipts or quotes. They are a small sample and cannot order clinics by price, describe a national level or determine which clinic suits an animal.
Evidensia Oslo Animal Hospital
The clinic states that its price list applies from April 2026, prices include VAT, and medication is charged according to use and the animal's size and needs.

AniCura Sortland
The website says that complex treatment or investigation can be difficult to price before the clinic has examined the animal, and that price will be discussed during treatment. The page gives no separate validity date for the list, so the date below is only our check date.

AniCura Oslo Animal Hospital
The table uses the clinic's ordinary prices, not AniPlan prices. The clinic says that further examinations can change the consultation price and invites customers to request a specific quote.
| Clinic listing | Published ordinary price | Stated inclusion or qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Outpatient consultation, up to 15 minutes | from NOK 2,516 | Further examinations can affect the price |
| Annual Nobivac dog vaccination | NOK 1,205 | Health check included |

These prices are not a ranking
Two entries with similar names can include different appointment lengths, diagnostics, anaesthesia, X-rays, medication, consumables or follow-up. A from-price is a starting point, not a cap. Ask the clinic to confirm what is included in your quote.
Do not delay necessary help for an acutely ill or injured animal while collecting several prices. Call a clinic and request price information while the animal's needs are assessed.
Compare service contents before amounts
Start with one specific treatment or examination. Ask each clinic to describe it using the same questions. Differences then become visible without pretending that the services are identical.
For a consultation, you might ask about duration, whether examinations cost extra and what happens if the appointment takes longer. For dental cleaning, anaesthesia, monitoring, X-rays, polishing, medication and follow-up can affect the contents. Each clinic must explain its own quote; this article does not determine what should medically be included.
Do not treat distance as a simple price addition either. Travel time, availability and the animal's needs may make the nearest service the relevant one. In an emergency, assessment and help take priority over collecting several quotes.
Before, during and after an appointment
Before: Ask for current price information and a written quote where the scope can be described. Check which additions may arise and how long the quote remains valid.
During: Ask the clinic to explain the price effect if new findings change the planned work. Establish how it will contact you if you are not present.
After: Check the itemised bill against the quote and the work performed. Ask the clinic about lines you do not understand. A difference does not automatically make a bill incorrect, but it should be explainable.
What you can request
Under Chapter 3 of the Norwegian Price Information Regulations:
- Section 10: A service provider must state the full price. A price interval must include its highest and lowest price, minimum prices must be stated, and additions must be listed separately. If a full price cannot practically be given, the calculation method must be explained. Payment terms must be provided before the agreement is made.
- Section 11: A price list or price notice must be available where the service is normally ordered. If the business has a website, an updated price list must also appear there.
- Section 12: On request, the provider must give a written quote before the agreement is made. Unless the consumer asks otherwise, it should list component services, goods and the total price as far as practical. The provider must promptly report new circumstances that increase the price after work starts.
- Section 13: After the service, the consumer must receive an itemised bill detailed enough to check what was supplied and charged.
The Norwegian text is authoritative; this English summary is for orientation.
Checklist before accepting a quote
Use this as a document check. It does not assess which treatment the animal needs or which clinic you should choose.

Keep your own price records clear
Save quotes and price lists with their dates. Do not overwrite an old document when you receive a new one; otherwise you lose the history explaining why a budget changed. Label each document as a public price list, personal quote or final bill.
When Dyrli compiles public price information, the clinic, service, contents, price type, source and check date should accompany the data point. A listing missing these details should not be presented as a comparable price.
Insurance does not change the clinic's price. Cover, excess, limits and exclusions follow the individual insurance contract. Check your terms directly with the insurer; this article does not assess insurance products.
